About Dubai IMF Independent Mediainformation about this site Dubai IMF Independent Media is a project of a group of people living in Dubai, other parts of the United Arab Emirates, with technical work from as far away as San Francisco, USA. We are hoping to build a thriving independent media culture throughout Dubai. As such, we have applied to become an official Indymedia regional working group and website. Indymedia is a global phenomenon, born in the growing mobilization of people from around the world against neoliberal policies, capitalism, and imperialist domination. There are now Indymedia websites all over the world, including the West Bank in Palestine. We hope to be the first indymedia presence in the unique Persian Gulf states. However, there is a process for becoming an Indymedia, something we are currently undertaking. But, we could not resist the temptation to provide a presence during the notorious International Monetary Fund meetings which are now being held in our home. By operating this temporary website, we are building our local media community, learning to work together, and learning the bumps along the road towards an internet website which is updated with news.  We are currently working with ad hoc working groups in Indymedia, in our city, and elsewhere to provide alternative coverage of the IMF meetings in Dubai.
